Pulled Chicken

Pulled chicken is quicker to make than pulled pork and just as good! The tasty chicken goes extremely well with grilled corn on the cob and salad.

  • 4 servings


  • 1 Fresh Chicken
  • 2 Yellow Onions
  • 500 ml Smoky Sauce
  • 3 Chopped Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Chopped Red Chilli
  • Lime
  • 100 ml Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 Pinch Black Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Butter

For Serving

  • 2 Cooked Corn Cobs
  • 200 ml Sour Cream
  • 1 Lettuce Head
  • 1 Chopped Lime


Step 1

Heat the oven to 175º.

Step 2

Put the chicken in an ovenproof dish. Peel and chop the onions into large pieces and place around the chicken.

Step 3

Mix the BBQ sauce with chili, garlic, lime, water, salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the chicken. Cover the ovenproof dish with foil and cook in the oven for about 2 hours.

Step 4

Prepare the chicken by removing the onion, skin and bone. Separate the meat with a fork, and mix with the sauce.

Step 5

Cut the corn cobs into pieces and grill or fry them in a pan. Serve with the lettuce, sour cream, lime and garnish with coriander.
