Mince Gratin

A mild and child-friendly variant on the Greek moussaka dish, without the eggplant. Super easy and cooked in the oven - meaning that while it bakes you have time to treat yourself, take the opportunity to read a book or bake a cake!

  • 4 servings

  • 500 g Beef Mince
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Rapeseed Oil
  • 3 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tbsp Dried Oregano
  • 100 g Cream Cheese
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Pinches Black Pepper
  • 800 g Potatoes, Preferably Firm
  • 150 g Grated Cheddar
  • 200 ml White Sauce

Step 1

Heat the oven to 200°.

Step 2

Peel and chop the onions and garlic finely. Fry the onion and garlic in the butter and rapeseed oil in a frying pan. Add the mince, tomato paste and oregano. Cook while stirring until the mince crumbles, for about 10 minutes.

Step 3

Mix in the cream cheese and season with salt and pepper. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly with a knife or a potato mandolin.

Step 4

Put the potatoes, cheese and minced meat into a greased ovenproof dish. Pour over the cream and finish with a layer of cheese. Bake in the middle of the oven for about 50 minutes. Serve with a salad.
