Caesar Salad with Sardine

Classic recipe for caesar salad, served with hard cheese.

  • 4 servings


  • 6 Slices White Stale Bread
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 Heads Of Romaine Lettuce
  • 100 g Mature Cheddar


  • 4 Sardine Fillet
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Black Pepper
  • 1 Pressed Garlic Clove
  • 100 ml Butter


Step 1

Cut or tear the bread into cubes. Fry them until golden brown in butter.

Step 2

Mash the sardines and mix them with egg yolk, vinegar, mustard, salt, pepper and garlic in a bowl. Beat in butter into a fine paste.

Step 3

Cut the romaine lettuce into pieces and mix it with the dressing. Cut the cheese into slices.

Step 4

Put the salad on a large dish or plate. Sprinkle with croutons and cheese. Serve immediately.
